Just who are the "Thursday Drinkers" ?
Well - it's really the "OS/2 Programmers / Dominics Drinking / Gang from the ISE 1990-ish"
who just happen to meet up on the FIRST Thursday each month for a drink and to swap happy
tales about the gormless nerds called (L)users etc.
Sometimes there are 1 or 2 ( rear ), sometimes 20ish but often five to fifteen.
We used to meet up in the "Freemasons" in Long Acre - but the pub got refurbished
and we had a little bit of a disagreement with the jerk that was appointed to manage it,
so after much sole searching we decamped to "The Sun" in Long Acre (almost oppersite).
We had been thinking to move on for several years as the pub turned from a cosey and
quiet boozer into a tossers heaven for deaf gits (or rather for people deturmind to go deaf.)
After a long and happy assioation with "The Sun" that too become too noisy and crowded
(or did we just get older ?) So once againe we moved off - resisting all attempts from one
of our number to go to "The Man in the Moon" (because it's miles away) we ended up at
"Shakespeares Head" in Kingsway - just down from Holbourn tube station, and that is where we are today.
We try to remember to send a scout over to the Sun sometime during the evening to mop up those people we
forgot to e-mail and who only turn up once every few years.
Then we got increasingly fed up with the Shakespears Head, running out of booze, seating changed to that
of a fast food pub and to full of tossers.
So now we live at the Counting House, 50 Cornhill (Bank tube). From 7:30pm ish in one of the two rooms
at the back between the bar and the stairs down to the toilets. There is usualy a sign on the glass partition saying
things like Dave or OS/2 or Andy or Dominic.
If you fancy poping along - take a peake at this lot and drop us an e-mail so we can make sure we all
have empty glasses before we call out to you.
What sort of people are we ?
Lunatics, programmers, Lawyers, HR (sorry - she changed horses after being "accepted")
and generaly all round clever buggers.
